This page contains links to the binary
distributions of SLIME and the associated documentation
packages.
Requirements
In order to run SLIME you must be running 15APR98 or a later
version of AIPS under Solaris 2.5 or later on a SPARC-based
workstation or Digital Unix 4.0 on an ALPHA/AXP-based workstation. If
you are running under Solaris then the FORTRAN 77 runtime libraries
libF77.so.3 and libM77.so.2 must be installed.
You will also need the GNU gzip package to uncompress the
downloaded files.
What to Download
You should download the binary package for your workstation type.
By default, SLIME is configured to use on-line help files from NRAO.
These may be slow to load so you may also want to download a copy of
the on-line manual. A printable PostScript copy of the manual is also
available from this page. Follow the instructions provided with each
link.
Note that the installation instructions in the manual refer to an
earlier version of SLIME and are not applicable to the current binary
distribution: ignore them.
- SLIME for Solaris/SPARC
(739
kbytes)
- This is a compressed tar file
containing the essential components of SLIME.
Uncompress this file using gunzip and unpack the contents. This will
create a new directory. Change to this directory and run the KornShell
script install.ksh using the AIPS manager's account, first making sure
that you have run $CDTST. This will install the executable and the
help file in your current AIPS areas and create directories under
$AIPS_ROOT that hold the application defaults file and a set of
bitmaps. If you have more than one version of AIPS installed, you may
type $CDNEW or $CDOLD and re-run install.ksh as required.
- SLIME for Digital
UNIX/ALPHA(893
kBytes)
- This is a
compressed tar file containing the essential components of SLIME.
Uncompress this file using gunzip and unpack the contents. This will
create a new directory. Change to this directory and run the KornShell
script install.ksh using the AIPS manager's account, first making sure
that you have run $CDTST. This will install the executable and the
help file in your current AIPS areas and create directories under
$AIPS_ROOT that hold the application defaults file and a set of
bitmaps. If you have more than one version of AIPS installed, you may
type $CDNEW or $CDOLD and re-run install.ksh as
required.
- On-Line Help (529 kbytes)
- This is a compressed tar file containg
the on-line help files for SLIME.
Uncompress this file using gunzip and unpack it in the place where you
wish to install the on-line help files. I recommend that you install
them in an area that is accessible via http. This will create a new
directory. Edit the file $AIPS_ROOT/app_defaults/Slime which was
created when you ran the installation script for the binary package:
remove the semicolon from the line that defines Slime.helpPrefix and
change the value of Slime.helpPrefix to a URL that refers to
slime.html in the directory that was created when you unpacked the
help files.
- PostScript Manual
(179
kbytes)
- This is a compressed PostScript file
containing the manual for SLIME.
Uncompress this file using gunzip.
